We are Dan and Louise Yates. We own and operate K-Lane Kennels, and live on-site at the kennel grounds.

We love animals and focus exclusively on pet care - helping pets stay safe and happy when their people are on vacation. We don’t breed pets. We don’t train pets. We don't groom pets. We don’t show pets. We don’t have other jobs. We don’t farm. And we don’t sell stuff. We only board dogs, and help their people learn how to keep their furry friends healthy and happy - so we do it very well!

Pets have always been a part of our lives, so we absolutely understand how important it is that your dog is well taken care of while you are away.

Our inspiration

Our philosophy is simple. Every decision we make, we ask ourselves, "what would we do if this was our dogs?"

Daisy was the inspiration for our kennel. She came to live with us when she was just eight weeks old in 2001. We bought the kennel after boarding her that summer, so we aptly referred to her as the "Queen of our kennel". We loved that dog so very much. Very suddenly and very sadly, she passed away in September 2011.

We adopted Buddy in March 2003. His original family had to find a new home for him, and he chose us. After Daisy's passing, Buddy picked out six-year old Tulip from the Regina Humane Society. Buddy is quite smitten by Tulip's unique beauty, and she is a fabulous addition to our family.

We want our dogs to be safe, healthy and happy, and that’s the way we run our kennels. Your dog is an important part of your family and you want the peace of mind that comes from knowing that he or she is with people who really care.

We are Certified Pet Care Technicians. Louise is also a Certified Pet First Aid Instructor through Walks N Wags and Dan is a Certified Pet First Aid Provider through that same program. We are full members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Louise actively volunteers with the Regina Humane Society, and has been President since 2006.

K-Lane Kennels has a stable and proven track-record of providing quality boarding services, opening on February 3, 1992. We purchased it from the original owners a decade ago on March 15, 2002. 140 happy dog years in business!

We constantly ask ourselves how we can make our guests’ experience better. We get to know our guests and treat each and every one of them with kindness and respect. We’re out in the country so it’s much calmer than being by city highways, trains and planes. We have the biggest suites around. They can go in and out all they want. Our floors are heated for extra comfort. Every guest has an orthopaedic Kuranda bed. And, we have a safe large fenced yard that we use for daily yappy-hour where our guests run and play.
